Henry: Vinyl : it get's scratched so easily, don't leave it in a car or it'll warp, the cover gets scuffed, you lend it to people and it never comes back the same, it's soooooooo unreliable...and yet....I've been entranced by vinyl ever since I was 7 and my Mum and Dad bought me my first record: Johnny and the Hurricanes' "Beatnik Fly" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdMSu8qW8B8 probably explains my love of all things organ).

Years spent going through 2nd hand record shops (drives my wife mad!), car boot sales, Oxfam shops...found a Japanese Creedence Box set in Oxfam about 8 years ago for £1.99...trouble is, now Oxfam are all sussed as to the value of albums...makes it no fun anymore!

Have to admit I went over to the "dark side" around 1987 and bought my first CD player, so don't buy much/any new vinyl these days, but I'm still to be found most days rifling through bins in Scope, British Heart Foundation, Help the Aged etc...but NOT Oxfam!

And the main advantages over CD are the sleeves (I can lose myself in a gatefold for hours...and I can actually READ the lyrics) and of course, it SOUNDS better.

I'm so thrilled that my "Chronicle of Modern Life" is coming out on vinyl...and gatefold at that!

(The picture on the left is about half my collection...the rest is at the studio!)
