The songs started life as 10 individual pieces but we started to talk about the idea of a classic Yes style elongated piece played by machines. So the opening track is now 13 minutes long with various themes and a reprise. It just worked so well this way. We were both bored of the idea of one 3 minute song followed by the next. In a way it sounds like what the 1980 Geoff Downes might have done in 2012 . There is a narrative woven throughout the songs too. The concept or theme is of a fan watching his idol fall from grace. A Bolan type figure who has it all, is beautiful but loses their way in the glare of fame. I wrote and sang lead vocals on a track from the forthcoming Producers album called Watching You Out There which is a continuation of that theme. Something I\’m fascinated by.
Geoff and I are thrilled with how the record turned out and are truly excited to unleash it on Vinyl this summer thanks to Chris Topham and his fantastic new label Plane Groovy.
